Waiting

Yesterday on So You Wanna Be Published Eva Marie Everson wrote an inspiring article on Waiting.

It made me think of some times in my own life and how so much of it is filled with waiting.

I waited until I was finally old enough to flee a home filled with turmoil. Thankfully, I found my loving husband when I was twenty-two.

I waited two years through a multitude of embarrassing and frustrating tests to get pregnant. In 1984, I held my child in my arms for the first time.

I waited a year for the owners of a Christian bookstore to sell it to my partners and I. They did--for one dollar.

I waited for my daughter to find someone as wonderful as her father to marry. In 2006, she married a boy she met at Bible college.

I waited for my first submission to be accepted. When the email came, I knew my life had changed. Again.

Today I wait again for an agent to either love my manuscript or pass on it.

But there is a common thread that runs through all these waiting moments in my life.

What relief that God already knows the beginning, the middle and the end--and in the end--He is the only one I need to wait on.

"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint"(Isaiah 40:31).

Interesting too that some waiting is exciting, and other waiting is just torment, the minutes and days ticking by eternally! Glad you have the agent waiting now, exciting!

Ah, waiting.

I'm already anxious to see what agents think, and I haven't even sent out queries! I clearly need to learn a little patience. :)

Good morning! Actually yesterday I completed an extensive revision outline, incorporating the changes and research. Today I begin the 2nd to the last step - writing! Then of course is the re-reading ... How about you? What's cookin' in FL?

Waiting begets patience, if done well. *smile* Isn't it true how much of the writing life is spent waiting? I try to combat that yucky state of being by working on a variety of things. (PS..my Dashboard watch list is not updating when new posts come up lately. Glad I checked in on your site.)

Hi Terri, waiting definitely is not an easy thing, but the beauty is that in each situation God gave you awesome results at the end of your waiting period. Definitely worth the wait!

Blessed day

You are so speaking to me today, Terri. There is a situation I have been praying on and waiting on for years now and God keeps telling me to hang on, hang on, hang on. I keep telling myself He knows what He is doing. Patience is obviously not my strong point!

I'm stuck right now for a writing focus. I've always had one in the Fall when my children returned to school, but right now I'm in a holding pattern...waiting...not sure as how to proceed.

It's driving me crazy and thus, I feel my production level in almost every area is low.

It can be defeating at times.

Thanks for your thoughts.
