Christmas Contest News

My writer's meeting is today so I will keep my post short as I have stuff to get ready for it yet.

We will talk about our goals, bring in new market ideas and finally take some time to critique a couple of stories if time allows. The meeting always lifts me up and makes me eager to get back to writing. I know this week I won't get much of that done with Thanksgiving but that's okay---it was a good month. Hope yours was too.

I received an email this morning from Women of Passions because their newsletter is having their yearly Christmas story contest. But, they need stories that will meet their guidelines in nine days. Do you have one you can submit? I plan to work on one this week. Great opportunity for someone to get published plus win a contest as they will publish more than one of them. I won two years ago and have since been published in an anthology they put out.

Do you have any market news to share too? Check out my other blog where I post opportunities as well.

Hope your Monday is full of good surprises!

Thanks, Terri, for the tip. If I find even a spare minute this week, I'll work on submitting something. Hope all goes well with your writer's group and that you receive the inspiration you need to walk you through the next few weeks.

Have a blessed and restful Thanksgiving. I am so thankful for all of my new blogging friends and count it a joy to have you in my life.

Hope your meeting is inspiring. (Have y'all tried submitting work via email, doing the crits at home to printed docs, then just sharing the high points at the meeting? Helps speed things up, and also is good to have hard copies to take home for rewrites.)

I've got one Christmas story I've signed a prelim. contract on for an Adams Media anthology, but still waiting.

Have a great time at your meeting today! I'll be thinking writerly thoughts for you.

Thanks for the heads up; I may check the Christmas contest out!

Happy Thanksgiving, Terri.

Hi Terri, thanks so much for all the encouragement you give me. Thinking of a Christmas story other than the one I already posted--that would have been THE one.

Make sure you see my mudsplats blog tomorrow, announcing a new adventure in sharing.

I really miss my writer's group, but since you had to pay to be a member and we spent so much time talking about the business end of things instead of WRITING, I decided not to keep going.

Will check out the contest - I do have a great Christmas story that I've been trying to market. Maybe this will be the right fit!

Have fun at your meeting! All of my writer friends live all over the country. It would be great to get together and talk and share our work.

Also, good luck writing your Christmas story!

That's so cool that you belong to a writers group with meetings and stuff! I'm totally jealous!

You guys: Terri is so modest. She's not just an attendee. She's the founder and co-facilitator, and an excellent writer at that!

Terri, forgive my absence from the meeting today, please. I really did miss out! Today was my foster/adoptive daughter's birthday which can be a difficult time in a RAD home. I planned to make it but it never happened. But you were all in my thoughts. I will email my critiques to the parties that requested them since I didn't get to present to them in person.

As always, thanks for sharing your tips.

I've been meaning to ask you about your neighbor...how is she? Have you been able to reach out/share with her? I am praying for you and for her too.

Here's an idea I'm throwing out if you ever need ideas (haha!)...how about giving us some tips on doing research. Specifically, internet research. I don't know where to even begin. If you ever need some post material, please consider this one! Smiles to you this Thanksgiving, Terri!

Thanks, Terri, for announcing the contest ... we've had a few great submissions come in already. My goal this year is to make this contest a VERY DIFFICULT ONE for the judges -- so much so that they'll all have to be published on JournEzine! LOL So, ladies, get your stories in. Oh, and we'll accept entries from men, too, so if you know any guys who love to write, send them our way!

Love,
Jan
