This and that

Today is special--I got my first W-2 in the mail for writing!! ( Is that what you call it?) Guess I made enough they had to send me one. Whoo hoo!

And a question for all you bloggers . . . I've noticed that many people answer back after a comment has been posted in their posting underneath. I find that when I leave a comment, I click out and the next time go to the new posting. I don't back to see if there was an answer as then I would never get to anyone else's site.

What works for everyone? Do you prefer I comment back on the posting? I try to email if there is really a big need to answer.

What does that big book of blogger rules say about this one?

I'm still shocked when I get a comment!

Sometimes I revisit a blogger's site to see what they or others add to the original post. Other times I enjoy sending/getting a private email.

But I think you're onto something with your "blogger rules" comments. You could pen the first "Blogging Protocols", or "Etiquette for the Sophisticated Blogger".

Can you tell I'm feeling better? (It helps to have my sassy little granddaughter here).

I usually try to reply back to commenters if I have time. I figure if someone posts a comment on my blog, then I should take the time to at least check theirs out. That is me, though. I have a filter on my blog so that every comment comes to me for approval before it is posted. I guess that keeps me more on top of replying to comments as well as acting as a preventative measure against spam.

I prefer to answer the e-mail. I, like you, never go back to look at the postings so I almost never see the answer on the blog comments. Sometimes I answer both in an e-mail and in the comments, but lately I have not taken the time to do both.

I get an email list of comments left on my blog, but I can't be sure, when I reply to them, that they all actually go back to the sender when a click on 'properties' shows their address as 'no reply comment'...

I much prefer the email answer option, if I can be sure it works.

There are definitely blogs that I comment on that I know the author will comment back and sometimes, I will check back to see what they wrote but in the end, I kind of let it go.

I think it's fun to hear what people think about comments. But, like you, I barely have time to get around and read everyone's posts and make a comment let alone check back for a response. But, at the same time, I always respond if people leave a comment on my blog. Ultimately, I think it's up to you. I'm never offended if people don't respond to my comment.

BTW, congrats on the W-2 thingy (my husband works in finance, you'd think I'd know what it was called). LOL

Woohoo on the W-2! As for commenting on the comment, yeah, I do that. I visit visitors too. Maybe that's just the way I started out, not knowing any better, and now it's habit? Would love to email to commentors, but most don't have the email option. UPDATE YA PROFILES, BLOGGY PEEPS! :)

PS You have some blog bling waiting at my place.

I usually will respond to comments, though some days I don't. Just depends on my mood, I guess. :-)

I don't know about rules, but I answer folks' comments. It's a great way to get to know each other and have a rousing discussion.

Several of the blogs I frequent respond to comments.

Blessings,
Susan :)

Woo hoo for your W-2!!!

I don't comment after someone posts a comment because I don't think anyone will come back to check for my response. I don't know if that's blogging etiquette, but it just makes sense to me. If I want to reply to someone, I email them or go to their blog.

I'm going to read the rest of your comments and see what others say.

Happy writing!
Kelli
