Remembering the Miracle

Sometimes the miracle is in the remembrance.

Finding hope during unemployment can be a day-to-day struggle. Last night I felt a little like Peter who reached out to Jesus during the storm but then started to sink in his doubt and fear. Deciding I’d had enough for one day, I retired to bed early and read my devotion.

I’m not sure what prodded me, but I glanced over toward my stack of journals and pulled out the one marked 2001—the year my husband, daughter and I left PA and everyone we knew to start a new life in Florida.

As I started to read, I could once again hear the concern in my voice. We’d taken a major pay cut to move here. Making the choice to put our daughter in a private Christian school as well as additional unprepared costs like tolls, gas and house maintenances had taken a toll on our finances.

Then I turned the page to December 24th. I remembered how lonely and homesick we were after eight months away from home and now we were spending Christmas Eve in seventy-five degree weather. Money was tight and again the fears that we made a wrong choice still filled the lines.

I read what I’d written: Special Blessing came in the mail today from a lawyer of a man my husband once knew as a boy. He’s chosen to remember Curt in his will.

Sometimes the miracle is in the remembrance.

Last night God reminded me how he can do the impossible during impossible times. When the check arrived six months later, it was just enough to cover my daughter’s tuition for the next school year.

I’m waiting for my next miracle.

How precious! It's so like the scriptural practice of building up a pile of stones; stones of remembrance. I have some of those remembrances myself and, like you, their remembering is often the litte (or big) boost I need to get past a fear, or a hurt, or anger. In essense they say to me: If God has been faithful yesterday (or yesteryear), He will be faithful today, and tomorrow too.

Thank you for such transparency. It gives the rest of us permission to be transparent as well.

Hugs, and many prayers ...
Kathleen

He is amazing like that, isn't He?

We went to Weds evening church service last night, our first in months (what with two little tired and distractable ones). I'm so glad I did. The shared testimonies, like this one of yours, are just so uplifting. He knows us, hears us, even before we expect Him to. He's got it all under control.

Another case in point, according to something I once wrote -
'That which is saught is often elusive; that wich comes unbidden is reality before it is recognised'.

God's timing.

May you and I never forget, HE IS FAITHUL and always, RIGHT ON TIME. It can be easy to forget in the midst of the "current", but may you be encouraged today.

Lovingly,
Yolanda

Oh, that's a wonderful story and a great miracle! I think sometimes we get so caught up in day to day life and doubts that it's hard to remember all the wonderful blessings we've gotten from God. But you're right, sometimes the miracle is in remembering and hopefully reminding us that we have a loving God and whether we doubt or not He will continue to bless us. Thanks so much for sharing.

Thank you for leaving a comment on my blog. I would love to "pick your brain" about writing and marketing Christian genre in books and my CD products. Maybe we could email sometime. Loved this story. God is faithful.

Terri, I'll put in a special request with St. Joseph since his feast day is on the 19th. He is faithful about taking prayers to the Son he helped raise on earth. I always call on him in matters of home, finances, jobs, etc. :)

PS I made a really decent salary cleaning houses and apartments for 10 years when my kidlets were young. Email me if interested in tips.

That a touching story, Terri.

I know the feeling of waiting for a miracle. Sometimes it's very hard. I think it's great that you keep so faithful. I think, if anyone deserves a miracle, it's you.

Please let me know if you need another set of eyes on any manuscript or query letter. I'd be happy to help however I can. I think we're all just one big family anyway. Jenni

Miracles have a way of coming when we least expect them--and most need them. I'll be praying that yours comes quickly.

Great reminder! Holding to His promises is what faith is all about. He will NEVER leave us or forsake us.

Remember Terri, 'they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."

While we wait, we're still growing. That's what's happening to you.

Your way out is through. Through the blood.

Wonderful testimony. That is the way to overcome, according to the word,'by your testimony and by the blood of the lamb.

Blessings,
