The Reunion

I'm attending a reunion tomorrow. My husband returns from his mission trip and I can't wait.

We've been married almost 32 years and have never gone this long without communicating. It makes me wonder how military families survive, or missionaries, or any one who is unable to share their thoughts with the ones they love.

When he left Friday night, I worried that I would never see him again--silly, fearful, ungrounded thoughts but real to me. As the days passed, and I threw myself into chores and friendships, I started to slowly understand why God has allowed this break in our lives--at a time when I thought we needed to be with each other the most.

As I've shared in previous posts, my husband and I are in the midst of climbing a steep mountain and searching for the view at the top. But sometimes the path is overgrown and rocky and it's hard to get a good footing. We've fallen and picked each other up often. Sometimes I've wanted to dig my heels in and give up.

But I think I found my ledge this week. I'm praying he did too.

Seems as though an appropriate comment would be 'Hang in there'...

I'm so happy for you, Terri! Not just that hubby is coming back, but that you came to terms with your separation, better than you might have expected.

I can't wait to hear of his journey! I bet he'll have amazing testimonies when he returns.

A hug for you, friend.

Happiest of reunions to you! Speaking of military separations, my sweet stepdaughter and 3 kids will be reuniting with her husband today at their new post at Ft. Polk, coming from Wisconsin. It's a sacrifice for all military families for sure. God bless them all, as well as the missionaries, who put duty/sacrifice above personal pleasure and gain.

Popped over because of your name. :)

Wow, hope your reunion was beautiful. Hope the view was a mountaintop one. Hope the overgrown rocky paths are no longer there.

Wow! 32 years??? Sorry, but from your pic I thought you were in your thirties! :-) I'm glad you found your ledge.

Wow, the word picture of your steep climb made me think of a book/allegory that blessed me mightily when once (no.... several times) I made a similar climb. I've sent it to you: "Hind's Feet on High Places." (it may take a week - 10 days to show up)

Tough though the climb is today, I am blessed that you've chosen to be so candid, and to share it with us. I'm blessed, too, to know the Lord is fitting you for something new, something precious. What could it be? One day it will be a gift so fine it's sure to show up in some incredible story you've crafted.

God bless you, my friend. The best is ALWAYS yet to come!

Marriage is a funny thing - a weird thing - an uncommom commonality!

So funny, because I dreamed my hb was gone - gone where I have no idea, and I was walking around eating a raddish (a raddish?) and when I woke up, I had this thought, "appreciate what you have before you lose it" - it both calmed me and alarmed me....dreams are strange...marriage is strange...the world is strange...*smiling*!

HAHA I am so laughing!! Now you know where all those missionary journals made into books and movies really come from!

Glad you got the vantage point on the plateau or ledge to see the world without hindrances like safety nets all around...its truly a blessing to be able to stand in that spot.
