Blogger Bits and Blessings

I received a surprise in the mail yesterday. A nice check from Adam's Media. I have a story coming out in their Christmas anthology later this year. It's unusual to get a check before the story goes to print, I've found. So getting it beforehand was nice.

I'm also working on editing my WIP. Sentence by sentence. Groan. The book suggested by an ACFW to use for editing came last week and I've been reading it while I do it. You never know everything in this business. What struck me yesterday is how much more difficult it is to write fiction than non-fiction. I never think about keeping my character's name the same when I write articles--cause usually I use the real name and it's a no-brainer.Something to watch with fiction--as well as getting all the four senses set in all the scenes, and a host of other details that just keep coming out of the walls.

It is a process for sure. But I'm enjoying the learning.

I also started working on a website yesterday http://www.territiffany.wordpress.com after looking at the one my critique partner did. I still need to learn how to put pictures on it and do the pages properly but hey, it's free, it gives me a place to put my writing information and if ever I get a book accepted--it is all set up. I think one of my blogger friends suggested doing that and I do take advice.

Hope your week is flooded with opportunities. What are you working on now?

I'm doing final tweaks on my urban fantasy before it goes out to editors. Then...house cleaning. Woohoo.

Congrats on the check, Terri. (Hope mine comes in soon too.) :)

Like you, I'm slow.ly working on my main WIP, using the Maass book and workbook as guidance (groan...lots of work, but I know it needs doing), and writing poetry as I find time.

Going check out your new blog now.

Unfortunately, right now I'm working on unpacking after a weekend move to a new apartment!

Congrats on the check and the website!

Hurray for unexpected checks in the mail! I like your website. It's simple, straightforward, easy to navigate. I like the color too. Wow, you've written a lot of articles! Good luck as you continue to rework your manuscript (I'm on Chapter 8 of The Light of the Sea now--it's totally different than it was before, yay!)

Congratulations on the check and the article that will be published! Praise the LORD!

I used to use typepad and then wordpress. I found blogger to give more options. I just peeked in on your wordpress blog and you look so beautiful!

You asked what we're working on? My pro-life/post abortion healing writing AND Marriage book.

I received your email reply back Terri and so sorry I hadn't had a chance to reply. I'm not online weekends for the summer. But I wanted you to know that I so appreciate your support of my writing and right now my hubby has been the one reading through what I'm writing but I will definitely reach out to you soon. I still want to get to your writing club also. Hopefully right after the summer.

You and your husband remain in my prayers. Blessings and peace!

Hi Terri -

Congratulations on both the check and your new website. Wow! You have a lot of writing credits.

Was it hard setting up the site? I need to get mine set up.

Blessings,
Susan :)

Checks in the mail are always a bonus!

I've been just sort of taking it easy, mulling over my next story idea in my head. :-)

Oooh! Your website looks nice! I wish I was techno-savvy like you, Terri!

I just got a contract in the mail to write 7 more devotions for Quiet Hour, so that's what I'll be working on this week.

Great job in making so much progress forward! I'm behind you with the website but am hoping to get to it soon! And editing is always a great learning experience. It always gives me motivation to try to learn more before I write the next book so that I don't make the same mistakes!

Hey, LOL! Didn't you just get a check in the mail? Woohoo for another one! :-)

Names don't always need to stay the same, you just have to be careful that the reader is grounded with the character first. :-)
You know what I'm working on. Revisions. GRrrrr...

Well the first thing I am doing is catching up on all these blogs. I also decided on a direction for my writing and I am excited about that. Do you ever come up with a name for a book before you start writing it? I actually have a few of the chapters that just need fine tunning but all of a sudden this idea for a name popped in my head and it sort of tied the chapters together so I am going with it.

Wow, your site is looking great!

I'm editing too. Word by word. I feel your pain, Terri!

Yes, editing sentence by sentence is torture, isn't it? But one of the necessary evils of our profession. :) Good luck. I like your new wordpress blog. fun.

That is so exciting to get a check before it is expected!!
I'm anxious to see your website. I've been thinking of making one. Of course, all I'll have to put on it are my newspaper articles and a few things published through StoryCircle. Maybe I'll hold off, not sure:) But I'll enjoy looiking at how you do yours!

That is wonderful about the check and your web site looks very nice (so far)! I don't know anything about setting up one either (aside from blogger of course). :o)

I wish I was working on some wonderful piece of writing. I spend any extra writing time on my blog. One day, I pray I'll be a true writer. :o)

Blessings!
Beth

Oh, I also wanted to ask, do you know any websites that allow you to put recordings, like MP3 lectures for sale on them? wb

Check's in the mail... how fun is that! I'm in editing mode on my book, but I may be rebellious and slip in some word counts on my second book this week while no one is looking. It's calling my name!

I've been doing some painting, a totally new avenue for me, and painting as in....water based...piddling....as in f-u-n for me.

I thought Terri, how cool of God to bless you with that check that was out of the normal routine....He is so faithful, much more than I (or perhaps, we) are.

Love to you!!

I'm so happy for you!! I'm sure the check came at exactly the right time!

And don't leave me hanging on the editing book. I'm always on the lookout for good ones. What's the name of it?

I'll go check out your website right now!

Good luck with your editing. The whole process of writing a fiction overwhelms me. I give you tons of credit for taking on this challenge. You continue to inspire me!

Congrats on the check.

Nice site! :)

And yay! on the check -isn't it nice to get paid sometimes for something you love to do!

Perhaps you mentioned it somewhere else and I just missed it, but what's the title of the editing book recommended by ACFW?

I am soaking in GOD's word and praying after a difficult few days.
Thank you for being an inspiration as you seek GOD's lead in your writing!
Blessings and prayers, andrea

Hi Terri, Just wanted to stop by and thank you for participating in "Change the World Wednesdays". It sounds like you're way ahead of the game ... already taking short, Eco-friendly showers. Yeah!

I'm really hoping that these weekly challenges catch on. I just think that if we all do the same "green" thing during the same week, we can have a huge impact ... and perhaps change the world.

Thanks, again ... I really appreciate your support!

I am thinking about trying a website. I might have to come to you for advice once you have mastered the techniques.
