I never thought I’d be happy to see a burn can
again, but I was. When my husband dragged it home (compliments of a friend) and
we burned our first batch of garbage, I felt my heart connect to this town I
call home again.
I can’t begin to write how I feel now. I walk into
Thomas’s Grocery store and find myself halting in the frozen section—seeing ghosts
of my younger self strolling through the aisle with my two-year old daughter in
the cart begging for ice cream.
Tonight we went to dinner with old friends at a
restaurant we used to frequent after dropping our kids off at the camp up the
road. I glanced over at a nearby gas station and saw myself buying last minute
snacks for my daughter to hold her over for the week.
“Remember the pie our husbands would bring us home
after taking the kids?” Kelly reminded me as we entered the building.
I hadn’t.
But now I did.
So many memories of another time—another life.
We sat in the moonlight on a pontoon boat the other
night with friends we hadn’t seen in years. I was sure how we would be together
but our conversation picked up as though we’d been together the day before.
I have relationships again.
God is teaching me so many lessons right now.
Never say never.
Accept those around you.
Be grateful for what you left.
I can’t wait for tomorrow.

You are where you belong. :)
I am so happy that you have found a place where you feel some peace. So many people miss the lesson that Go is trying to impart upon us during out difficulties by only focusing o the circumstances. You are ahead of the game by trying to glean as much from your situation and learn from it as possible. I am a firm believer in the knowledge that God never wast a moment where He is not trying to reach, teach and love us through all things!
Welcome Home!

Sweet!
I am happy for you. I believe some of the reasons for your blessings are that you have a grateful heart and a willingness to allow God to lead you. May He continue to bless you and yours.
That's awesome! Glad to have you back into the blogging world too :)
Untrue adage: You can never go home again. :)

I can't tell you how happy I am to see you this excited. We are happiest with our friends and family. That's why my daughter and her family came home.
Hoping you will find many new joys ahead.
Thank the Lord Terri, for taking you back to your home. God, Family, Friends, what more can one ask for.
what blessings have come after the trial of your faith...

It's wonderful to be in a place where you feel a sense of belonging, isn't it Terri?
We made a similar sojourn. I'm back in my hometown and often have flashbacks of decades ago, when I was a "young un."
Sometimes I think, "Oops. Better hurry.I'll be late for high school French class." WHAT??????? I haven't been in high school for DECADES. ha!
I'm SO HAPPY for you. I can hardly contain my gratitude to God for bringing you home. Susan

Ah, you're finding that "best" God often has waiting for us behind the door marked "Never."
Love the "feel" of this post ... hope and wonder is woven through each word.
Terri, I'm so, so happy for you, my friend. It's like you've come full-circle...a wide, circle that it's taken a looong time to get around, but now you're back, and clearly God is orchestrating it all.
Enjoy the beautiful autumn weather!
