Chapter 13

My husband told me this morning there is a story in everything we do in life. Of course, I already knew that.

He was only trying to rationalize what I have to do this next week. Being the clever husband he is some days, he figured out I could take a 28-hour reactivation course and resurrect my real estate license just in case we needed it some day.

I hate real estate.

I did it for three years and ended up being termed the "social worker" of real estate. I did it to get out of a job as a social worker at a nursing home that was sucking the life out of me. I did it until I found my real love--that being writing.

But the world has changed around us, and sometimes we need to do what we need to do. We always try to have a two year plan and this decision fits nicely into it where I could help out if I had my license but I could still write. Unfortunately it means hours on the computer studying information I would rather forget so my writing gets put on hold.

Life is all about the stories we live. I just don't know if I like this chapter.

What's your chapter like today?

Mmmm. Well, my life today is largely rich, full & satisfying. That's not to say it doesn't contain some challenges and upsets, like the osteo-arthritis in my hands & hips and the fact that my energy stores sell out before my intentions do. I'm also not too kean on what I see happening on the soils of the U.S. of A. Then again, with God at the helm, how can it all be anything but good?

So much to ponder. So much to share.

OMGosh! I so totally identify with this. My book project is in the vey rough draft form. It is a matter of having the uninterrupted time to sit and do the necessary revisions and re-writes. I work part time three day a week, about twelve hours total and I have a bible study on Wednesday morning so that leaves me with Fridays as my off days. It is amazing how often the maters of the day such as bill paying and grocery shopping take precedence over spending time working on writing.

I think we all struggle with putting the needs of what has to be done “right now” with what we want to “write now” (cool play on words!!!!).

Most of the time I just leave it in God’s hands and it will work out. When I need to really buckle down and write I have to realize that I need to be a bit more proactive and organize my time more efficiently. Ha HA, I’ll let you know when that actually begins to happen. Speaking about priorities, I have to dash to get ready for work which I should have done fifteen minutes ago. Praise Jesus my job is vey flexible and I can get to work when I get there.
Blessing

Who says you can't write titles? This post title had a great double meaning! I thought you were going to write about filing bankruptcy, but instead, you shared your family plan for NOT doing so. :)

My life is good but hard right now. Busy with 3 teenagers and their activities, writing & editing work, and caregiving & helping with my beautiful mom who's ill.

My chapter is puny today. I thought I was on the mend, but a sinus infection has taken hold and won't let go. So this afternoon takes me to the doctor's office, instead of somewhere I'd like to be, doing something worthwhile.

Best to you, Terri, in regards to this change of pace for you. God will show you His way!

That is so funny. My husband's friend was in our office early this morning for a cup of coffee and he asked me if I thought I could be a real estate agent.

Now is that just not the funniest?

My chapter....stepping into God's plan for this season of my life.

Love,
Yolanda

Some chapters in life are definitely hard. We so have to use the wisdom of God in these changing times which is what both you and your husband are doing.

I am at a tough chapter as well being the only working adult right now in the family. Any writing is done at break times or late in the evening, which is not too often. It is not a chapter I like either, but each paragraph result in some lesson being learned.

"Though it cost all you have, get understanding.Cherish her and she will exalt you; embrace her and she will honor you. Prov. 4:7 & 8

Well, this experience in real estate might be altogether different for you! Who knows what opportunities it might present. Good luck with decisions!

It's good that you're looking out for the future but on the other hand, if the prospect of renewing your license fills you with that much dread, then I would say you shouldn't do it.

My life is ok right now, starting to settle down. I hope to jump back into the writing again since I'm done reading through the novel. Goodness, I miss it!

Although, my life is exciting and fulfilling, my chapter is about accepting that which cannot be evaded....aging. I'm into that passage of life now and evaluating what it means to me and the people I touch.
